What is Expected?

Traditional depression medication isn't always the right choice. Its effects vary from person to person. For some, the treatment may not work at all, which is treatment have started, patients can feel the following:

- An improvement in sleep, often in the first week.

- The ability to concentrate better, often as early as the second week.

- Depression Symptoms lessen

- After four or five weeks, many patients start to feel between 70% to 80% "more normal."

- At six weeks, many find that most of their symptoms have disappeared.

The effectiveness of TMS may improve as researchers learn more about techniques, the number of stimulations required and the best sites on the brain to stimulate.

How It's Done?

TMS Therapy is administered in a physician's office in an outpatient setting which consists of five treatments per week for about 20 - 30 minutes per session over a period of 4 - 6 weeks.

Treatment begins by placing a magnetic cap against your head. Magnetic pulses are then delivered consecutively to stimulate nerves which targets specific areas of the brain. While the sensation can feel odd, many patients adjust to it quickly.

TMS Treatment does not involve surgery or intravenous lines, sedation or hospitalization and patients can resume their usual activities immediately following each treatment session.
